Review:
Casino Royale was Daniel Craig's first outing as 007, and easily the best Bond film so far in my opinion. Chris Cornell's opening track Is iconic and incredible, while also expressing meaning, in terms of Bond.
The best thing about Casino Royale is the fact it's the first Bond film where you don't really have to be a fan of the series to enjoy this movie. The action is on point with great fight choreography that keeps the audience involved, making one of the best action films of the last decade.
Mads Mikkelsen as LeChiffre is disturbing, uncomfortable and makes the audience feel uneasy due to his incredible, Oscar worthy acting. He is definitely one of the best villans in the Bond series, and that's saying something!
The screenplay by Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis is interesting and so unique compared to the other films in the series. It has depth, meaning and isn't the typical, bad guy wants to take over the world!
The direction from Martin Campbell is excellent and the pace was consistent that has a perfect structure for a movie. The first act is Bond becoming Bond and meeting LeChiffre. The second act is at Casino Royale and LeChifffre's death, and the third act is Bond recovering from the incident and the final battle. This structure mixed with the perfect pace, makes this movie a modern masterpiece that is crafted with passion from the director of Goldeneye!
Daniel Craig as Bond is ruthless and brutal, who ditches the campy tone of Moore's but also stays true to the character. He is easily one of my favourite, if not my favourite, actors to play him, along with Dalton and Brosnan!
Eva Green as the Bond girl has a real purpose in this, she's badass but beautiful while also being interesting. Her and Craig have great chemistry that really tie the movie together.
Overall, Casino Royale is the perfect Bond movie with a great score, masterful direction, a great villain, awesome entertaining action and the best soundtrack in the series!
